Core Beliefs
The Bible is the written revelation of God to us and our only source for belief and living. It was written by human authors supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is truth without any error.
Psalm 19:7-13 | 2 Timothy 3:15-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21
There is one true God who is Creator of Heaven and Earth. He has eternally existed in three distinct and co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is all knowing, all-powerful, and everywhere present at all times. All things exist for His glory.
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 | Isaiah 45:5-6 | Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin. He is undiminished deity and perfect humanity permanently united in one person. Jesus Christ died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for all sin. He physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day physically return.
John 3:16-17 | Hebrews 1:1-3 | Mark 16:1-8 | Revelation 1:7
The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides every believer with gifts for service and with the fullness of God’s power to make him adequate for living. The Holy Spirit is uniquely, mysteriously, and divinely united with God and Christ who, in sum, make up the Holy Trinity.
John 14:16-17 | Romans 8:9 | Galatians 5:22-25
Mankind is the supreme creation of God, created to know, love and be like God in character. Every human is precious and valuable to God from the moment of conception.
Genesis 2:7 | Psalm 139:13-14
All of humanity is made in God’s spiritual, moral, reasonable, and emotional image. However, sin entered the human race through Adam. Sin corrupts all and leads us into sinful acts. Sin separates us from God and from eternal and abundant life. The deserved penalty for all sin is physical and spiritual death. Only Jesus’ act of obedience through sacrifice saves us from our sinful nature.
Genesis 1:27 | Genesis 2:15-17 | Isaiah 53:6 | Romans 3:22-24
Salvation is the unearned gift from God to anyone who receives (through dependence) the provision that Christ’s death is the sufficient and necessary requirement for eternal life. One can only be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy through faith in Jesus Christ, His work, and repentance from sin. Salvation is given by the grace of God and cannot be taken away. We are completely forgiven and completely right with God from the moment of salvation.
Ephesians 2:1-9 | Romans 6:23 | John 14:6 | John 3:16-18 | John 10:28-29 | Romans 8:38-39
There will be a future physical resurrection of the dead. Only those who turn from sin and towards Jesus in faith and repentance will be raised to eternal reward. Those who do not turn from sin and towards Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment.
Matthew 25:31-34 | John 5:28-30 | Acts 24:15
Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ that all believers are expected to participate in. It symbolizes our identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. As such it is reserved for those who have expressed their desire to be followers of Jesus Christ. Baptism is by immersion to illustrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is for the glory of God and joy of the church.
Matthew 3:13-17 | Matthew 28:19-20 | Colossians 2:12 | Romans 6:1-4
